The New man behind the Pizza…. Back in the late 80’s there was a kid that worked his way through HS and college at a local pizza place on the South Side of Chicago. He went on to get a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Human Resources, got married and had 2 kids….all the while dreaming of one day owning his own pizza place. In 2016 Jeff Ulanowski started looking to pursue that dream, he only had to convince his wife Connie first! Since Jeff would have to keep his day job, he’d be relying on her to take the reigns. She was a stay at home mom that worked part time at a florist, so at first said “good luck with that” but eventually was on board. After months of searching, Jeff found a well established business in a great location, with great pizza….Jimbo’s Pizza!! James(Jimbo) wanted to sell to someone that would keep it a family business and that’s exactly what Jeff was looking for. Fast forward through several months of negotiations, paperwork, attorneys, inspections, phone calls and a few breakdowns by aforementioned wife…As of January 4th, 2017 Jeff and Connie Ulanowski became the proud new owners of Jimbo’s Pizza!! **We have had a tremendous amount of support from the staff, customers and community and hope to be around for many years to come serving you high quality food made from the finest ingredients! A huge thank you to James “Jimbo” Mandra for making the transition as smooth as possible, keeping Connie somewhat sane and providing us with an invaluable GM, Rob Kurecki. As was Jim’s, our focus will continue to be customer satisfaction.** Jeff and Connie Ulanowski
The Man Behind the Pizza
James "Jimbo" Mandra grew up on the south side of Chicago where he acquired a taste for quality, thin-crust pizza. When his family relocated to the southwest suburbs, Jimbo went into severe distress. He desperately tried to find a pizza with similar qualities he loved. Unable to fulfill his passion, Jimbo decided to take matters into his own hands... literally. Jimbo began experimenting on family, creating pizzas of his own recipe. The pizzas were an instant hit and requests were made for "pizza parties" for nearly all family functions. Word of Jimbo's delicious thin crust pizza spread and soon friends of family were requesting "half-baked" pizzas, which were frozen for later use. As demand for the "half-baked" pizzas quickly grew, Jimbo decided that maybe he should offer his delicious thin crust pizza right out of the oven!
In 1998 Jimbo's Pizza was opened in Lemont, Illinois and Jimbo began to serve his south-side authentic recipe to residents of the suburbs. Using only the finest ingredients and NEVER sacrificing quality, Jimbo's Pizza has steadily grown throughout the years. Jimbo is fired up about the future expansion of his dream. Yet, no matter how large Jimbo's Pizza becomes, customer satisfaction will be his highest priority. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!
